Hillsdale lake was completed in 1982, and Hillsdale State Park officially opened in 1994.

Perry State Park was made possible by the signing of a lease agreement in 1968 between the Kansas Parks and Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Information:

Extensively forested rolling hills offer shaded camping at Perry Lake. 25 miles of horse trails and 20 miles of biking/hiking trails wind through the upland forest providing visitors a great outdoor experience. Lake Perry also offers excellent channel catfish fishing on 11,000 acres of Perry Reservoir. Perry State Park is located in the southwest portion of Perry Reservoir, four miles north of highway 24 on Highway 237. The park features a sand beach, five shower buildings, two boat ramps, picnic areas, and trails for horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. There are four utility campgrounds, totaling 102 sites with electricity and water hookups, and seven primitive campgrounds with over 200 sites. All of our campsites are first come, first serve. Our cabins opened on April 3rd for the 2011 camping season.

Melvern, KS

Boaters on Melvern Lake will enjoy the large main body of the lake on calm days for water skiing. Sailboat enthusiasts can find plenty of room to maneuver on the ten miles of open water.

Information:

The Melvern Lake Marina is located on the southeast side of the lake. It provides fuel, mooring facilities and other supplies necessary for boaters as well as campers. For the main lake, boat ramps are located in all Corps of Engineers parks (Arrow Rock, Coeur d'Alene, Sundance, and Turkey Point), two at Eisenhower State Park, and two maintained gravel boat ramps (one off Urish Road on the north side of the lake and the other off Docking Road up on the river end of the lake). The Outlet has a boat ramp to launch non-motorized boats in the River Pond.

Pomona State Park came into existence by a lease agreement through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers upon completion of construction of the dam in 1963. Pomona Lake controls watershed runoff from over a 322 square mile area.

Pomona State Park offers visitors a transition from prairie to eastern woodlands with plenty of well-shaded campsites and wildlife viewing. The park is nestled in an area that offers historical connections to the Santa Fe Trail, as well as easy access to several metropolitan areas. Rich history and ample services make the park a premier outdoor recreation facility. Well known by northeast Kansas residents for shady campsites and a great family atmosphere, Pomona State Park is located 30 miles south of Topeka, Kansas. This 4,000 acre lake features scenic beauty as well as an abundance of wildlife. The state park, consisting of 490 acres, is located on the south shore of Pomona Reservoir. More than 200 primitive campsites and 142 utility sites are located throughout the 12 campgrounds. Some utility sites can be reserved, but primitive sites cannot. Southwind Shelter House is a reservable group facility available for your family gathering or business meeting. The Shelter House is available year-round. Recreational opportunities await you with three hiking trails, swim beach, day use picnic areas, volleyball and basketball courts, playgrounds, horseshoe pits and a nine-hole disc golf course. The park also has a full service marina with boat slips to rent daily or annually. There are restaurants and a golf course located nearby.

Smithville Lake is a 7,200 acre lake and has more than 175 miles of shoreline. Located just 20 miles from downtown Kansas City.

There are several recreational opportunities available to the outdoor enthusiast that include: 2 swim beaches, 777 campsites, reservable shelters, 2 full service marinas including boat rentals, 1 sailboat only marina, dockside restaurant, 2 public 18-hole golf courses within the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex, 4 disc golf courses, great fishing whether from shore or by boat, 25 miles of walking/biking trails, 11 miles of single-track mountain biking trails, 26 miles of equestrian trails, home to Kansas City Trapshooters Association, public hunting that includes managed goose hunts as well as youth and ADA white-tail deer and wild turkey hunts, and an aggressive 2,300 acre native grassland revitalization project.

Stockton Lake, MO
